I’d like a combo, please.

I’d like a combo, please. And I don’t mean a burger, fries and a shake.

I mean a walk, a lake, and a tree….pose.

Experimental Biology 2017 Summary: You probably know that walking does your body good, but it’s not just your heart and muscles that benefit. Researchers found that the foot’s impact during walking sends pressure waves through the arteries that significantly modify and can increase the supply of blood to the brain.

And,

A 2015 study also found that walking in water can raise your heart rate more than walking on land. This can give your heart and lungs more of a workout. According to another study, water walking may help with lowering blood pressure, especially for people who are new to exercise.

And,

Sea air is full of negative hydrogen ions which, by neutralizing damaging free radicals, improve our ability to absorb oxygen. They can also balance levels of serotonin – the hormone that makes us feel happy – meaning we will become more relaxed and less prone to anxiety.

Finally,

New research has found that ‘blue space’ including sea, rivers, lakes, and even urban water features can have a positive impact on wellbeing, writes Tim Smedley of The Guardian.

Therefore, I chose to walk in nature and near water. Add in a few yoga poses and an audiobook and I’m in good shape.

What’s your “happy combo?”

Aloha🌺,

Denise
