In 64 more days, my Camino de Santiago begins. My training, prep, shopping expeditions will prove invaluable when I lace up my boots and step off onto the street.
Last night I attended a presentation about gear for the Camino de Santiago at a local hiking store. I gleaned a few tips and tricks from the presenter:
1. carry only 10% of your body weight,
2. carry what YOU want,
3. choose shoes based on distance, the weight of the pack, and my/your specific feet,
4. wear a base layer + a mid-layer + an outer layer of clothes, and
5. check the trekking poles in a box on the flight over.
It seemed to be a push for purchases in the store, so I complied and bought a BUFF (scarf-like fabric w/ many uses) and a second pair of toe-sock liners. They did have cookies! (alas not Gluten Free 😔)
I look forward to the conversations with other International pilgrims and my partners on this journey, as well as the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets we’ll experience along the way. Today’s sunrise in St. Charles, over the Missouri River, was a beautiful omen to the trek.
How are you doing on your 2020 goals?
Aloha🌺,
Denise
