Flying trucks?

Well, we came to Dallas to spend the final days with Mark’s dad. The outpouring of love was overwhelming. There were over 750 people at the funeral and over 150 each night at the shiva house.

Then as we boarded our plane yesterday to go home, we waited on the tarmac  for an hour before the pilot turned the plane around and parked at a gate. He asked us to hasten off the plane, leave our belongings and wait for further information. After waiting in the airport several hours, watching hail fall from the sky, hearing sirens and overhead announcements, we saw on nearby TVs that 12 tornadoes were in the immediate vicinity. We were staying in Dallas another night.

One TV station ran video of 18-wheeler trucks literally flying in the air, one landed in a woman’s living room several miles away.

To add insult to injury, the earliest flight out we could secure is on Thursday afternoon.

Therefore, our one week trip for a funeral has been extended by a tornado. Not on our agenda, but definitely adventuresome.

I must give kudos to the pilot for not flying in the bad weather; thanks to God for keeping us all safe (no one died in the tornado); and gratitude to my family for all their love, support and generosity.

Aloha,

Denise
