Reminder for parents

As I went through my gym workout, I couldn’t help hearing moms lamenting the chores, tantrums, schedules, practices and homework they have waiting for them at home. I walked past moms shouting, “slow down!” and “walk!!!” as the kids neared the kid’s club room.  To me, those kids are excited to go in there….

What I lament is not having enough time with my kids. Twenty years just flew by. I’d give almost anything to return to those days, even for a few hours, to relive the fun, giggles, cuddles, stories, homework and chores with my kids. Parents, don’t wish the time away!

All kids are wonderful and a gift.

Digby Wolfe was the author of the poem “Here’s to the kids who are special.” With permission, I share:

Here’s to the kids who are different;

The kids who don’t always get A’s.

The kids who have ears,

Not at all like their peers,

Or have noses that go on for days.

Here’s to the kids who are different;

The kids who are just out of step.

The kids they all tease,

Who have cuts on their knees,

And whose sneakers are constantly wet.

Here’s to the kids who are different;

The kids with a mischievous streak.

For when they are grown,

As history has shown,

It’s their differences that make them unique.

I love my kids. I miss them so much. I’m proud of them; I honor them; I respect them. I hope they know all that.

Aloha,

Denise
