Building a new hotel (outside of my apartment living room) requires many talents: fork lift drivers, crane operators, soldering torchers, contractors and financiers. You must have a strong foundation to build a hotel that will safely house guests and employees while they are under the roof.
A strong foundation applies to us too: our families are our first step. My family in Dallas is a tight-knit group. They brunch together monthly; they celebrate holidays in their homes; they come when needed. I feel the bond within my family when I’m in Dallas. At the heart of the group are my mom and dad. They recently celebrated sixty-one years of marriage.

My family consists of my hubby and me and our two adult daughters. I love the connections we share and our times together. As I scan old photos, I believe we provided a strong foundation of love, support, encouragement, and inquisitiveness to set them out into their world.

Many thoughts go through my head when I identify these photos, and photos that my parents have. I’m grateful for them and the events they represent.
To be sure: hold on to memories, rather than possessions. That’s where the treasure is. To be continued….
Aloha,
Denise
