A lady glides past the pool wearing a purple silk scarf, oversized sunglasses and a smile. Kids in the pool splashing, laughing, screaming, crying. Swim camp, summer camp, college students, grandmas, new moms, soon-to-be moms, one or two elderly men. My view is charming, relaxing and invigorating.
Sunny salutations from St. Louis County, MO! The summer renews my faith in repatriation and new places. As an Empty Nester, I observe friends are harder to make and challenging to insinuate into their cliques. The pool is a friendly, neutral ground. As my mantra echoes in my head, “Never give up,” I chat with the scarf-head lady, sharing my magazine and exercise schedule, hoping to make another friend.
