Happy 44th Birthday, UAE!!
The revelers began early in the morning and continued well into the night. The cars, the planes, the honks, the screams, the smells of BBQ, the smiles and the silly string all add up to a FUN party.
We enjoyed the party for two full days. Mark and I walked the Corniche yesterday afternoon, watched the final touches, and we mixed with the huge crowds waiting for the shows. Then, we hosted some friends on our lanai and we watched it all from above.
Exactly on time, the fireworks popped and the skies turned red, green, and white with a beautiful display to celebrate a nation.
When we finally settled in, the Emirates Palace was still lit up and the green laser lights were still scanning the sky….about 1:30am.
This lovely young country definitely knows how to party!
