One of my fav ‘traditions’ while living abroad in Abu Dhabi was joining my friends for an afternoon ‘cuppa’ (a cup of coffee) at any of the countless coffee shops around our area. Since moving back to the US, that tradition has subsided…until now.
I recently discovered two coffee shops in our area that make a great cuppa.
Murray Street Coffee Shop in Deep Ellum. They are only open for take-away…so I ride my bike up to the window, order, collect, and enjoy at one of the charming bistro tables outside in the sun. Beginning their 16th year in business, they feature locally roasted fair trade coffee beans for both espresso-based drinks, and various locally roasted fair trade beans drip coffees. They have food too, but I haven’t experienced that yet.

Opened ten days ago, The Berni Bean Coffee Co. has coffee from Costa Rica; and the owners, Stefano and Giuliana, both from CR, are friendly, excited to share their family coffee tradition, and welcoming. I’ve already been there twice this week! Their philosophy: “…the intertwined legacy of our Italian and Costa Rican ancestors, the beginnings of our little country, the fruit from our land, an opportunity to stop and take life in. Nothing is better than creating a new reality with it.” I highly recommend it.

Keep exploring. Stay well. Stay positive.
HAVE FUN EVERY DAY! See you at 3 for a cuppa!

Denise
