A new place and a new “speakeasy”

The weekend beckoned to start with a bang:  so we (my HH and me) mosied down the street, two blocks, to the Exchange to wander around the food court (and eat falafel then guac & chips) then to the newly reopened Rodeo Bar, on the corner of the Adolphus Hotel building, 1321 Commerce Street. It was fully functional starting in 1981, for four decades, then COVID, then renovations, and now it’s open for FUN. (https://www.adolphus.com/rodeo-bar)

We met the great and attentive bartender, Madison, the friendly and gracious manager, James, and enjoyed the taco salad made by the creatives in the kitchen, too many to name.

What we later discovered, by chatting with Madison and James, is there’s a “speakeasy” of sorts downstairs, behind the bar, welcoming patrons to play pool and lounge in the comfy sofas and overstuffed chairs. There is bar service, and it seems to be a quieter place to enjoy the food and libations.

One of my many favorite things here is the WC: “Y’all means ALL” on the door is very inclusive and so Texas!

Always on the lookout for FUN, I remain a curious patron of the Downtown Dallas Empty Nester Adventure Club (I just made that up!) Perhaps I should put that on a shirt!
