My kids asked me what do I want for Chanukah. Here’s my answer:
Emily and Tara, I want you to keep coming to visit. I want you to ask me questions and advice. Tell me about your problems and triumphs. I want you to come over and tell me about your life, all of it. Tell me about your job, your classes, your friends, your activities. I want you to continue to share your life with me. I want you to come over and laugh with me and laugh at me. I want you to spend your hard-earned money on yourself and making a better life for you and the world. I want to see you happy and healthy and thriving. That’s all I want. And these gifts cannot be wrapped in shiny paper.
I count my two daughters among my greatest blessings. Having them in my life is the best gift.
