When it’s sunny but windy, my “exercise” of choice is getting in and out of my car as I make my way through the city from estate sale to estate sale. Not only do I get to see inside some of Dallas’ biggest, most architecturally clever homes and some classic homes from my youth, but sometimes I find a great find. So far I’ve scored an electric drill, two Igloo coolers, a new box of 100 coffee filters, some new shoe boxes, and some colorful beads I can restring into modern fashion. I carry a bag of coins to use for my purchases. I’m recirculating the coins and coming home with treasures.
These sales take me through streets lined with majestic, enormous trees that I love to see. I wonder what the families do for a living inside those stately homes, and how do they clean all those tall windows??
Mixing up FUN with errands is another way to explore a city and enjoy the sunshine. I even meet cool people who jump from sale to sale.
People are faces until they’re your friends.
