Finding FUN here in the middle

I’m experiencing the Sandwich Generation events.

🥪My HH and I are helping our youngest daughter “launch” into independent adulthood in Dallas ~ a new apartment with her stuff, her lifestyle, and her thoughts.  She’s toured some buildings, to no avail. I have purchased some kitchen goodies for her. I’ve toured some classy apartments on her behalf. I’m trying to teach her how to food shop and cook, and I offer encouraging words at every turn. Our deadline to be out of our current place is May 31. ⏰ tick tock

🥪Simultaneously, we’re helping my mother navigate through her late 80s, and all that entails. She safely lives in a nurturing place. Since I’m the CHO of my family, I choose to find the FUN in all of this…no matter how messy it becomes. Living with moderate dementia, my mother goes out with me weekly, talks to my Handsome Husband (HH) daily, and sings and ‘dances’ (whilst holding on to her motorized scooter) at her independent living community whenever possible. As of late, there are stressors that we’re working through, but we’re doing it with grace and as much FUN as I can conjure.

I chose to write this because it’s a safe place for me, and a place to share love and support for readers. This isn’t easy. Finding the FUN in the middle of the sandwich is crucial. 🥪

Gentle reminders: Hunt the Good Stuff. This too, shall pass. Make hay while the sun shines. Stay grateful. Quality time matters.
