Get behind, get going; Fall down, get up!

An Empty Nester Mom thing I’ve added to my wheelhouse of activity is joining virtual fitness challenges online. My friend Allison introduced me to them last summer, but I’m slow on the draw.

I completed The Coronado 130 (miles) Virtual Challenge earlier this year, introduced by my friend Connie, to a sense of accomplishment and drive. NOTE: you sign up, pay the fee, log your progress, then celebrate with your medal. The record I set was a PB (personal best) by walking and riding.

Currently, I’m in the Grand Canyon Virtual Challenge (www.theconqueror.events/grandcanyon) and I’m 73% finished. The goal is to complete 280 miles in 84 days. At this writing, I’ve completed 203.2 miles and have 76.8 miles remaining to ‘cross the finish line.’ My distances are calculated by Strava, (www.strava.com) on my bicycle, by running and walking. I’m behind now, but I’m not giving up. I even fell off my bike yesterday: NO injuries, only vast determination.

Setting goals and NDBs are FUN and important to me. I must stay active, fit, and grow old gracefully, and never stop LIVING.

“Age is just a number you must enter on forms.”

You, dear reader, are invited to join me. Just say, “Yes!” Having FUN is a magnet for miracles.

Aloha🌺,

Denise
