Happy end of Maprilay

It’s the end of March 2020. What do I have to show for my month? Well, I moved to Dallas on March 10th. I food shopped twice that week. Then, on or around the 13th of March I began my home quarantine: to protect myself, my community and mostly my family. I have read several books; written blog posts on each odd day, watched some movies and TV shows (thank you, Netflix,) and magically produced creative dinners nightly.

My days are filled with socializing online, on the phone, and with my husband and daughter in person. I’m creating new dinner dishes with the food we have in our pantry, freezer, & ‘fridge. I’m binge-watching shows from twenty years ago, mostly because I was raising kids then and didn’t watch TV shows that didn’t start with a falling star arcing over a castle.

I’m grateful my eldest daughter is at home, with her ohana, safe and protected from the tourists who insist on taking their Hawaiian vacation during this pandemic.

While the days run into each other, I stay positive and happy knowing that this, too, will pass; and we will come out of this with new thoughts and goals and as a healthy community.

Stay strong, my ohana.

Aloha🌺,

Denise
