I am a Texan. I am a Dallasite. I grew up going to and watching Texas Ranger baseball games. I love sports.
So, imagine my delight when the teams I love play well and advance close to the ultimate win, a series championship. Last night, Mark and I watched Game 6 of our Texas Rangers play so well, so professional, so calm as they WON in the ninth inning over the Houston Astros, 9 to 2. And, we got to see Adolis Garcia hit a grand slam home run. Pure poetry!
I could hardly fall asleep! I was thinking about the players, the coaches, the groundskeepers, etc. I had visions of giggling grown men replaying the game in their heads and celebrating their advancement to Game 7. My thoughts were reminiscent of the Ted Lasso show when their team won and the players were overjoyed and pouring beer and champagne on each other’s heads I wonder if the Texas Ranger players do that. Game 7 is tonight in Houston. When the Rangers win, the World Series will be in our backyard at the Globe Life Park in Arlington!!!!!! I am so excited and optimistic.
The GOOD STUFF: is rooting for the home team and sharing the excitement with the city that supports good sports. The players and coaches show integrity, class, and style as they play and as the cameras focus on them, after good and not-so-good plays. Proof that someone is always watching. The great British writer, C. S. Lewis, said, “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” This applies to us all.
NOTE: Even Eovaldi, the pitcher, has the aloha spirit!!
Aloha,
Denise
