Last day of October. The meaning of October comes from the Latin word Octo meaning eight. The old Roman calendar started in March, so October was the eighth month. When the Roman senate changed the calendar in 153 BCE, the new year started in January, and October became the tenth month.
Happy Halloween. Halloween’s origin dates back to medieval times when it was celebrated for a completely different reason. History tells us that Halloween had its origins in the festival of Samhain among the Celts of ancient Britain and Ireland. On the day corresponding to November 1, the new year was believed to begin.
