It was 30 years ago, in Baltimore City, Fells Point specifically, I felt labor pains. Surrounded by my husband and my parents, I pushed and moaned, until they took me to the Johns Hopkins hospital to deliver our first child. A girl. We named her after her ancestors. We have loved her ever since.
She is a gorgeous, intelligent, sweet, loving woman and wife and daughter-in-law, sister and friend to many. She is my pride and joy. I wish our Emily a very happy, healthy, prosperous birthday, and many more.
So much has happened in each of our lives during the past thirty years. Sometimes it seems fleeting, other times unhurried. Life lessons and experiences mixed together create the joy of life. Through memories and photos I am able to remember some special moments of motherhood that I usually recollect on a birthday or occasion. Today is one of those days.
Cheers to motherhood. Cheers to my first born. Cheers to her life: may it be rich, joyful, interesting, and long. Cheers to being an extraordinary woman.
Aloha,
Denise
