About two young women….SPECIAL NEW YEAR’S END message

About two young women, I know much. I know about their beginnings, and their middle, which I’m watching with rapt attention, and have no idea how the story will play out. The two young women are my daughters. My mom goal was to raise smart, independent women.

My eldest is smart, flexible, thoughtful, patient, independent, and loving. She loves to giggle, watch movies, and spend time with her husband, her friends, and her dog. I am proud of her for returning to university and working at a job she loves. She has a strong work ethic and is a diligent Team member.

My youngest is tough, smart, honest, loyal, independent, and loving. She loves family, tacos, all things country, and travel. She works hard in a ‘man’s world’ and is making strides for women in the trades, especially 4’10” ones. Her work ethic is admirable to me, and she is noticed by her bosses.

The life lessons I taught them seem to have stuck. I love how they grew up and are making their way in the world.

Emily and Tara, I am proud of you. I respect you. I envy others who get to be with you when I cannot. I am happiest when you are happy. You both truly are my pride and joy.

I love that you live on your own. You have learned how to pay your rent, keep your place clean and tidy, and create a sanctuary for yourself.

I love that you drive yourself carefully to and from work and you know to take care of your vehicle so it will take care of you.

I love that you love your dad and me, and get on Teams to video chat with us, and you teach me technology I never could imagine.

I love your style and your zest for life.

I love you both.

Aloha,

Mom
