Finding joy within this sad day

Over the weekend, a childhood friend of ours died in an auto accident. It’s tragic, horrific, and unbelievable. He was a prominant man in our city and internationally. He was a pillar of his community. He was loved by everyone who ever had the privelege to know him. He was a wonderful man.

Before I head out to his funeral, I’m trying to find something positive in this tragedy. I’m grateful I knew him.  I saw him earlier this year and exchanged a strong hug with him.

My heart aches for his family and close friends.

He touched many lives and will be sorely missed.

Grief never ends…but it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, no a lack of faith. Grief is the price for love.

When we lose someone we love, we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind.

May David rest in peace. May his memory always be a blessing.
