Keep it, trash it, donate it

Yesterday I awoke early to ready myself for my Pickleball lesson. Sadly, it was canceled, so I had a full day to do ‘stuff.’ Turns out, it rained all day! What to do??? After a quick scoot through the grocery store, I headed home to tidy up.

Starting in the HVAC closet, where our umbrellas and rain boots live, I rearranged the sunnies, and the camping tarp (we’ve never used but have just in case), reorganized the hats, scarves, and gloves into a see-thru box, and removed-to-donate the clear armband/holder thingy that doesn’t even fit my mobile phone as well as some other small ‘ready to share’ items.

Moving on to the laundry room, a.k.a. the Mom Cave, I straightened the detergent and dryer sheet canisters, tossed a few dusting towels, ’cause, let’s face it, I don’t dust, and purged the Box o’ Bags I’ve carried with us since living in Honolulu, 12 years ago. Someone will thoroughly enjoy the Hawaiian lunch bags and hotel carrier bags. Feeling giddy and much lighter, I took my Swiffer Wet Jet for a cruise around the apartment.

The bathroom enjoyed some purging as well: we seem to accumulate soaps, lip balms, and razor handles. Bye, stuff! So as not to feel inferior, I straightened the closet and tossed old papers and collected some coins that I will spend at my first opportunity.

When I share my gently loved things with the Universe, some may call GoodWill, I feel gratified, helpful and happy. Now someone else can enjoy that purple kitchen gadget and insulated bag, among other goodies.

My first grade teacher, Mrs. Lawrence, told me to “use my time wisely” so I did.

The skies are blue and a bit cloudy, so no more cleaning for me today. Cheers to another FUN day from our tidy little apartment.

Aloha🌺,
