Lessons learned from playing

I love to learn from experiences and people I respect. Most recently, I’ve learned life lessons from playing.

Playing pickleball teaches these lessons: friend-making skills, recognizing athletic ability (or not), flexibility in scheduling, and the “thrill of victory and agony of defeat.” I met and played with three women who are WAY better than me, and super generous with their advice, skills, and smiles. Playing with more advanced players helps beginners get better. Kudos and gratitude to Leeann, Lisa, and Kandy for the FUN games and your graciousness.

Playing the “discover Dallas” game brought me to the PNC Patio Sessions LIVE concert of local talent Trevor Tyrrell. He is a fabulous artist and a wonderfully skilled guitar player. I thoroughly enjoyed all the songs he played by Johnny Cash, Bill Withers, CCR, etc. I was singing along and dancing in my front-row seat.

Playing the game of life includes many facets of cleverness:

  • Smile,
  • say “hello,”
  • explore,
  • have FUN every day,
  • hunt the good stuff,
  • ask questions,
  • and stay positive.

Cheers to all on this World Smile Day and Aloha🌺 Friday.

Aloha🌺,

Denise
