This NDB takes us to Amarillo, TX!!! We drove about five and a half hours through beautiful, sprawling, Texas. Yes, there were tumbleweeds spinning across the highway. The vast expanse also included some deer, some horses, lots of cows, many cities whose shops, businesses, and restaurants were boarded up, presumably from Covid, and lots and lots of farmland.
We ate at the World famous Texas steakhouse. There, you can eat a 72 ounce steak it for free if you can finish it in an hour. We did not even try that, but we did share a delicious steak. We even met two sisters from CO and shared a table with them.
We also saw the famous Cadillac Ranch, but did not partake in the spray painting of it all.
It’s a lovely place, as evidenced by the crowds. All the hotels are booked, the restaurants are full, and the highway was heavily trafficked. We had a wonderful time.
I recommend Amarillo for a get-away.
