The sun has set on Empire State Trail, Day 2

Day 2 began with a leisurely brekky and talk of the day ahead. What I didn’t know was there would be wildlife, mean people on a beach, and fabulous new friends by dinner time.

Trips, retreats, and the like present new opportunities to meet people and see the “back side of water,” that which you don’t see on a public tour, in a travel tome, or on the www.

From the road, I saw a historical train station, a medium length snake, a deer, and a surly woman who wanted us extricated from her “private” beach.

The long dinner table allows for people to sit in different places and talk to different people, thus learning their careers, family and, “how we met” stories. I already love my new friends: Kathy & Marty from GA, Susan from South Carolina, Sally and Stacey from Florida, Michael from New York, Abbey and Claire also from New York, and even more love for my friends Jeanne and John from Maryland and Cecilia from Texas.

So, as the sun set beyond the trees, we declared our 36.68 ride “DONE AND DUSTED” for the day.

I applaud and thank our leaders, Heather, Eric, & Wayne for making our ride today seamless. They showed up exactly when I needed them: with water, snacks and directions when unexpected construction appeared.

Stay well. Stay curious. Have FUN everyday!!

Aloha🌺,

Denise
