We had dinner reservations at a local favorite restaurant. We were asked to come by ’the house’ first. I didn’t ask, “Why?” We just went.
When we walked in and up the stairs of our friends’ beautiful home, several voices shouted, “Bon voyage!” or something similar, as I was too stunned to hear.
There, hiding in plain sight were our friends from our neighborhood, gathered to wish us well on our nomad adventure.
Purple table cloths covered the serving table where the food would go once the brats and burgers were cooked by chef Dennis. Steve and Jamie made a mouth-watering fruit salad to accompany Cecilia’s famous broccoli salad. Beth and Rick provided a Gluten-Free Nothing Bundt Cake. Mark and I soaked in all the love.
Having special people in our lives enriches us and our experiences. Conversations and laughter add to the joys of sharing a meal, a city neighborhood, and a life.
Our excellent nomad adventure continues as we finish culling, purging, sharing, and donating the remains of our 39-years of combined “stuff we’ve saved.” We will be out of our apt within this week. R&R, I’m ready!!
Friends make life more than a party for two. I am grateful. I am thankful. I am blessed.
Speaking of thankful, I must add here: Happy 39th Wedding Anniversary to my HH, my Mark, my rock, and my one-and-only love.
Bring on more adventure and FUN!!!!
Aloha,
Denise
