As a kid, I went to Sterlings on Northwest Hwy with my mom for all kinds of products. I didn’t go often, but when I went, it was a treasure-trove of wonderful things. I have no idea why it closed, but in 1972, the Half Price Book store moved into the space.
Today, I visited the location and was flooded with memories. I went in to find three books and, success, I found them. I also found the original vault that Sterlings used. Now it is a book nook for viewing, and for me, a cool reminder of the past.
I love how I keep learning about my hometown. If you need a book, a record, or want to see that vault, check out Half Price Books 5803 Northwest Hwy.
What have you discovered in your hometown that has been repurposed?
Keep discovering new things!
Aloha,
Denise
