“A true friend is the best possession.” Benjamin Franklin
Staying connected via social media makes my heart sing! Why? What do I mean? Well, this morning alone, I received a private message from a mutual friend in Dubai who I haven’t met yet, asking for a favor. I did as asked. Concurrently, I saw a post that another friend, who I met in Abu Dhabi and now lives on the East Coast, is visiting my city and is staying half a mile from my apartment. We’re meeting for brekky this morning. And lastly, I asked a question of another friend who I met in Abu Dhabi, regarding a photo he took while on a business trip to Turkey, and he replied to me directly with a complete and fascinating answer. This week I also introduced two friends who will share the same zip code soon. All that was done via Facebook, asynchronously.
I stay connected to friends from all five US states and two countries I’ve lived in. I would be sad and empty without those connections.
Staying connected is easy and worthwhile. Friends are so important to one’s mental wellness and heart health. When I can, I call, Zoom, Skype, and send cards, but when there’s a 15-hour time change, I love staying in touch via social media. Use it wisely and it is a fabulous tool, not just for cat videos.
Stay well. Stay connected. Stay curious. Have FUN every day!!
Aloha🌺,
Denise
