What I learned from my car’s tire.
1. Nail in tire. Indicator light flashing – go to a mechanic who can “ fix” it. I had the nail removed and a plug inserted. I watched… he used a plier and pulled out the offending nail. He then jammed a rubber-looking tube into the hole (as air was shooting out) and cut it flush to the tire. $15.

2. Noticing the two front tires had little tread left, and knowing our upcoming adventures require our car, I researched new tires for the front only. In a non-scientific poll, I asked my friends where they like to buy tires. The consensus was one place, but they were not open on Sunday. So, I drove one block from our accommodation and chose four new tires (the plugged one was questionable on the highway, in the hot summer, and at speed) and walked home until the new tires were mounted and aligned. Just under the promised time, our car was ready. Four shiny new tires made me very happy. Now the car is safe, quiet, smooth, and ready for the road!!! Oops, no photo.
