Wherever you live, it could get quite hot, humid, and dry. Here’s something to remember and not take lightly:
Yesterday, whilst riding my bike home from a ride, I began to feel overheated and a bit dizzy. I did stop several times to drink water and walk around but to no avail. At the 20.92-mile mark (not all the way home), I found my way into a 7-11, bought a Gatorade, sat down, then realized I wasn’t getting better. My breathing was irregular, my fingers were tingly, I began to cry, and I could not calm myself. I experienced heat exhaustion. Two angels, 7-11 customers Colin and Leslie, bought me a banana and a bottle of cold water and sat on the floor with me until my Mark, came to get me. Admittedly: not FUN!
No matter how much we ride (or any outdoor activity), we must stay hydrated and nourished. I feel much better now. I’ll hunt some FUN today. Staying true to my goals: riding, writing, sharing, and I hope, inspiring.
Aloha🌺,
Denise
