How does this Empty Nester Mom fill these quarantine days???
Walking: after 2.5 months of mostly sedentary life, I embarked on a walk around a lake. Turns out it was ~9.5 miles/15 km. I was <gasp> ill-prepared for that distance. True confession/ Total vulnerability: I had on street clothes, improper socks, and no water. Kids: don’t do that!! I did live to tell about it. Not my proudest moment.
Shopping: I’ve ventured out to the grocery stores several times. I’m only buying perishables: meats, dairy & veggies. I found TP twice, so we have plenty now. Stops in more than one store are necessary to check off my list, and I’m almost at 100% when I return home.
Movies: Thanks to Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Netflix, my movie-going hobby has been reclaimed. I enjoy watching old movies, i.e. Cary Grant style, spaghetti westerns (Call Me Trinity), The Man of the Hour (on which my friend, Debbie B.’s, daughter is the assistant producer), and The Aeronauts. Between movies and cooking, I read from the Hoopla app within three different libraries.
Keeping entertained staves off boredom & sharpens the mind.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY (tomorrow) to all the Moms out there. There’s nothing more beautiful or mysterious than the world, Moms, and kids.
Stay safe. Stay well. Stay positive.
Aloha🌺,
Denise
