You know when you know

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. When life presents you with friendly faces, you say, “Hello!” and create and nurture that friendship. That’s what I believe to be one of my greatest strengths and personal assets: making friends.

Last night we hosted our local ‘tribe’ for a holiday gathering. The love in the room was palpable. I heard people asking, “how did you meet Denise?” And the answers were all about the same: “she said “Hi” to me in an airport,” and “She replied to a post,” and “She was the only one who showed up at a function,” and “She liked my answer to my introduction,” and “She’s a friend of my friend.” I love that everyone shifted periodically and chatted and created new friendships.

You know when someone will be your friend when you create a background of relatedness and nurture that. I’m blessed beyond words to have my friends in my life.

Empty Nester Tip #1: Say “Hi!”

Cheers to friends! May we have them and be them.
