It’s May Day/Lei Day. Held on May 1 each year, May Day is a statewide celebration of the aloha spirit and the giving of the flower lei. A famous song captures the essence of May Day best, “May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii, garlands of flowers everywhere, all of the colors in the rainbow, maidens with blossoms in their hair.”
It’s also a very busy Saturday for this blogger. Today is the Prevention magazine’s 5k virtual walk and I’ll walk with Team Love of Aging. We’re representing having FUN and staying YOUNG into our classy, increasing years. Details and pictures forthcoming. If you want to join the FUN, join team Love of Aging at https://runsignup.com/Race/AA/YourCity/PreventionVirtualWalk
I also will see some friends from my high school at a luncheon generously organized by one of the star drill team gals who also went to my university and then became a famous lawyer.
Later I have a dinner round-up with friends who are ‘new’ to our neighborhood.
The most important things about today and every day are I can choose how I will go forth on busy days. I have the choice to stress or embrace the events and activities. So do you!
I accept this busy day as a grand adventure! I will listen and learn and plan and prepare. I’m thrilled to see people today, maybe even hug them. I will explore a new area of my city. I will raise awareness for classy aging. I will enjoy all of this day.
Stay well. Stay curious. Have FUN every day!
