Once in a Lifetime experience

Two years in the planning: countless phone calls, emails, IDs issued and investigated, carpools arranged and the day has come. I was among 17 women invited on a private tour of a sheikh’s private garden.

From the moment we arrived, turned in our IDs to the guards and began on the hand-laid Moroccan tile path, every turn and tree was more beautiful than the next. The specially chosen and gifted trees, each named by our guide, were healthy and happy living in this desert palace. The flowers, some I recognized and enjoyed in our California home, were spectacular in color, shape, size and fragrance. Some flowers even had their own air-conditioned room!

We weaved through the flower garden, farm area (including rabbits, goats, chickens, a turtle, and 2 Shetland ponies), entertaining areas and open green spaces. I’ve never seen such an opulent home. I’m so grateful to have seen this.

Today was an especially great NDB (never done before). Check that off my bucket list!

Aloha,

Denise
